Languages বাংলা

Bengali customers notice the moment you say tumi, not apni.

আপনার customer-দের সঙ্গে তাঁদের বাংলাতেই কথা বলুন।

For microfinance reminders, retail calls and school admissions across West Bengal and Tripura, starting from Kolkata Bengali, with "apni" always.

Live demo

Talk to Riya, and ask for Bengali.

Riya starts in Hinglish in your browser, with no sign-up. Say "Bengali mein baat kijiye" and she follows you.

Bangla + EnglishKolkata speech as the default

Kolkata speech is the safe place to begin. Rural and Tripura speech can differ, so test on your own list.

Apni, alwaysTumi is too familiar

Use "apni". Add "-babu" or "-di" only if your brand does. A business call has not earned "tumi".

Order, clinic, schoolTemplates to start from

Ready-made Bengali templates cover jobs like order delivery, clinic appointments and school admissions, on all four voice tiers. On Ultra, Bengali has a male voice only.

Why Bengali matters

Bengali has three words for you, and two will cost you

Apni, tumi and tui mark exactly how close you think you are to someone. On a business call there is only one correct choice, in every line.

Apni

Say it every time

A customer who hears "tumi" from a company hears a stranger being too familiar. Check every verb as well, because the verb form changes with it.

Microfinance

A small sum, a real relationship

A microfinance reminder is about a modest amount and a borrower who knows the field officer. Respect matters more here than urgency.

Short openers

Ask for time before you take it

Nobody was expecting your call. Ask if this is a good moment, then state your reason in one line.

How the agent soundsনমস্কার, এখন দু'মিনিট কথা বলা যাবে? আপনার order নিয়ে একটা ছোট্ট update আছে।
Beyond Kolkata

North Bengal and Tripura sound different

Speech in Siliguri, Agartala and the southern districts varies. Simple sentences travel well. Test before you rely on one version for a whole list.

Reminders

Ask a question, do not issue a notice

Formal Bengali can sound like a legal letter. Ask when the customer can pay, in everyday words, and thank them for the answer.

How the agent soundsকোনো সমস্যা নেই। আপনি কবে payment করতে পারবেন বলুন, আমি link পাঠিয়ে দিচ্ছি।
Education, retail

Questions that need a real answer

Parents and shoppers may ask follow-ups you did not script. For those, you can hand the call to a person on Professional and Enterprise.

Conversation nuance

Formal Bengali and spoken Bengali are not the same

Bengali has a long literary tradition, and scripts tend to lean on it. A call needs the easy spoken form, with the correct respect kept in.

Sadhu forms have no place on a call

Old written forms sound like a government circular. Use everyday verbs like "করবেন" and "দেব", the way people talk in Kolkata today.

Choose your greeting with care

"Nomoshkar" is the common business greeting. If your list calls for a different one, change the first line of your script.

Babu and di are risky defaults

"Ranjan-babu" sounds friendly to one customer and old-fashioned to another. Use these only if they already fit your brand's voice.

Set it in your script

Use "apni" and "-babu" or "-di" only if your brand does. "Tumi" is too familiar. Kolkata speech is the safe default. Rural and Tripura speech can differ, so test on your own list.

Everywhere you call

Bengali travels with the call.

A customer rings your number, and the agent picks up.

Web calls

A visitor talks from your website, with no phone needed.

Workflows

The next step runs from what was said on the call.

Yes. You set the greeting, questions, level of formality, objection handling, when to hand over, and which details to capture, for each agent.
How do I check the Bengali before customers hear it?

Does it connect to our CRM?
From the Growth plan, you can connect a CRM and your own WhatsApp or SMS account. Workflows decide what happens after each call, and you can test them first.
Can a person take over the call?
Yes. On Professional and Enterprise, the call can move to a person on the right desk with a private brief, and desks can have their own language.
