Languages தமிழ்

In Tamil Nadu, the first line of the call has to be Tamil.

உங்க customers பேசுற தமிழ்லயே பேசுங்க.

For sales, support and collections across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, in spoken Tamil with -nga endings, not the Tamil of a printed notice.

Live demo

Talk to Riya, and ask for Tamil.

Riya starts in Hinglish in your browser, with no sign-up. Say "Tamil mein baat kijiye" and she follows you.

Spoken TamilNot written Tamil

Spoken and written Tamil are very different. Write your script the way people talk, or it will sound like a news reader.

Neenga, -ngaRespect at the end of each word

"Neenga" and the "-nga" endings carry the politeness. Without them, a correct sentence still sounds rude.

Why Tamil matters

Tamil is not a setting you add later

Customers here expect Tamil from the first line. A call that opens in another language has to win back attention it should have had from the start.

பேச்சுத் தமிழ்

Literary Tamil sounds distant

"உங்களுடைய" is correct and nobody says it on the phone. "உங்க" is what a real person says. The gap is wider here than in most languages.

First line

Open in Tamil, before anything else

Your greeting, your name and your reason for calling should all come in Tamil. Do not begin in English and change later.

-ங்க

Endings are where respect lives

"சரி" is abrupt and "சரிங்க" is polite. It is a small difference that customers hear in every sentence, so write it in every sentence.

How the agent soundsசரிங்க. உங்க order நாளைக்கு வரும். வேற ஏதாவது help வேணுமாங்க?
Chennai, Madurai

Not one spoken Tamil

Chennai speech has its own slang and more English. Madurai, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli each sound different, so test on your own list.

Collections

Keep dignity in the money call

A reminder should never shame anyone. Ask when they can pay, in a soft and respectful tone, and write down what they say.

How the agent soundsபரவாயில்லைங்க. எப்போ payment பண்ண முடியும்னு சொல்லுங்க, நான் WhatsApp-ல link அனுப்புறேன்.
Fees, EMI, order

English words are already Tamil here

People say "fees", "EMI" and "order" in the middle of Tamil sentences. Pure Tamil equivalents make the agent sound like a school textbook.

Conversation nuance

Tamil has two languages inside it

The written form and the spoken form differ in grammar as well as words. Most bad Tamil calls come from a script written in the wrong one.

Have a Tamil speaker read it aloud

A script can be perfectly correct on paper and sound wrong on a call. If it sounds like an announcement when read aloud, rewrite it in spoken style.

Write spoken forms into the script itself

Write "பண்ணிடுறேன்", not "செய்து விடுகிறேன்". The agent says what the script gives it, so the spoken form has to be there on the page.

Keep the greeting simple

"வணக்கம்" is enough. Long courtesies that work in a letter slow down the call. Say who you are and why you called, then ask.

Set it in your script

Use "neenga" and the respectful "-nga" endings. Spoken Tamil is very different from written Tamil. Write your script in spoken style. Formal literary Tamil sounds distant on a phone call.

Everywhere you call

Tamil travels with the call.

A customer rings your number, and the agent picks up.

Workflows

The next step runs from what was said on the call.

Outbound calls

The agent rings your lead, within your calling hours.

Campaigns

A whole list, with each result saved on the contact.

FAQ

Tamil questions, answered.

Which voice tiers speak Tamil?

Are there ready-made Tamil agents?
Yes, 10 of our ready-made agents have a Tamil version, with a greeting written in Tamil. You can edit everything before you go live.
Can the agent follow a customer who changes language?
Yes, if you turn on Multilingual mode for that agent. It then replies in the language the caller speaks. Without it, the agent stays in the language you chose.
Can we change the tone and questions of Tamil calls?
Yes. You set the greeting, questions, level of formality, objection handling, when to hand over, and which details to capture, for each agent.
How do I check the Tamil before customers hear it?
An agent takes test calls only until you press Go live. Call it yourself in your browser, ideally with a native speaker from your team, and adjust the script.
Does it connect to our CRM?
From the Growth plan, you can connect a CRM and your own WhatsApp or SMS account. Workflows decide what happens after each call, and you can test them first.
Can a person take over the call?
Yes. On Professional and Enterprise, the call can move to a person on the right desk with a private brief, and desks can have their own language.
